Former Chhattisgarh Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik Loses Mobile in Snatching Incident
A shocking robbery incident involving former Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik has created a stir in Raipur. The incident took place on Monday morning while Kaushik was out for his regular walk in the Shankar Nagar area of the city. According to reports, bike-borne miscreants snatched his mobile phone and escaped from the spot within seconds. The incident comes at a time when security arrangements in the capital city have been tightened due to the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Despite the high alert and increased police presence, the daring robbery has raised serious questions about law and order in the city. Sources said Dharamlal Kaushik had left his residence around 8 a.m. for a morning walk. When he reached near Bharat Mata Chowk in Shankar Nagar, two unidentified men on a motorcycle suddenly approached him and snatched his mobile phone before speeding away. The entire incident reportedly happened so quickly that Kaushik did not get enough time to react or identify the accused properly. Soon after the robbery, Kaushik informed the police about the incident. Police officials from the Civil Lines police station immediately reached the spot and started an investigation. Officers are currently scanning CCTV footage installed near Bharat Mata Chowk and surrounding areas to trace the accused and identify the motorcycle used in the crime. The sensational incident has become a major talking point in political and public circles because it involved a senior political leader and former Assembly Speaker. Residents have also expressed concern over increasing incidents of theft and snatching in Raipur, especially in busy residential areas during morning hours. Police officials stated that efforts are underway to track down the suspects at the earliest. Several teams have reportedly been formed to investigate the matter. Authorities believe CCTV footage and local intelligence could help in identifying the robbers soon. The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding public safety and street crime in the state capital, even during periods of heightened security arrangements.
