The White House has unveiled renderings for a 250ft (76m) arch that Donald Trump wants to have built in the US capital. The new monument, nicknamed the "Arc de Trump" in homage to its Parisian inspiration, will be "the GREATEST and MOST BEAUTIFUL Triumphal Arch, anywhere in the World", the US president said on social media on Friday. The administration said it has officially filed the plans with the Commission of Fine Arts, a panel made up of Trump allies, which will review the proposal next week. The renderings of the arch depict gold inscription that say "One Nation Under God", topped with two gold eagles and a golden-winged Lady Liberty. The base would have statues of gold lions. The arch "will enhance the visitor experience at Arlington National Cemetery for veterans, the families of the fallen and all Americans alike, serving as a visual reminder of the noble sacrifices borne by so many American heroes throughout our 250-year history so we can enjoy our freedoms today", White House spokesman Davis Ingle said in a statement. The White House has not shared information on how the arch will be funded. Trump has previously said that since his ballroom project was "fully financed", some of the leftover money would be used to fund the arch. When the president announced the project last year, he said he wanted the arch to be based on the Arc de Triomphe in France, and for it to welcome people into the nation's capital from Arlington National Cemetery as they cross the Memorial Bridge into the city. Officials said "a heightened security posture is in place", but no injuries were reported and no suspects had been identified. The installation, titled "A throne fit for a king", was placed at the National Mall as a critique of President Trump's White House renovations. A period of warm weather in Washington DC helped blossoms reach a peak bloom before April 1 for the seventh year in a row. The Democratic congressman, a leading candidate in the race, has strongly denied the accusations saying he will fight with "facts".
